Gummies Bush Camps is a Not For Profit organisation (NFP) dedicated to mentoring teens 16-17 years old with programs to help "wards of the state/foster care" teens successfully make the difficult transition from care to adulthood.
In order to achieve this Gummies offers free weekend bush camp retreats for the above mentioned teens, currently one per month with separate weekends for boys and girls. Initially the retreats will be for 15 teens with the intention to increase capacity as we go.
Retreats provide a relaxed atmosphere with leisure activities such as horse riding and swimming, interspersed with voluntary workshops providing professional guidance in many life skills. These workshops will include:
Employment skills training
Mentoring - life skills
Basic health education
Physical activities such as dance classes, Tai Chi etc.
Once teens are in the program we would offer a continuing mentoring service if wanted until they reach up to 25 years of age.
We fund the provision of this charitable endeavour by operating School camps for schools from Southeast Queendsland and Northeast N.S.W. during term time as well as student groups from overseas.
In addition we operate Holiday Camps for children between the ages of 6 to 16 years of age, every school holiday.
